My Brother...

Clive, it is so true that the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon. …you were my one and only brother and you meant the world to me. Although we did not always see eye to eye, I loved you with all my heart. I will miss your company and our future family gatherings will always be incomplete without you. Some of my favourite memories of you were your long straight, hippie style hair; You and Danny’s matching suede tasselled Daniel Boone type jackets (I think the two of you even had the Boone hats!!!) ; and one of your first cars…the blue convertible…I think that it was a Chevy. I can remember sitting in that car with you and you turning on the ‘tape deck’….you know the one with those large cartridges…(eight track...as the Minister said)...and the sound exploded with CCR’s ‘Ooby Dooby’. I must have jumped a mile. I was a geeky teenager hanging out with her so cool older brother. I can remember when you bought Melanie’s 45 record, Brand New Key,for me because you got tired of me cranking up the radio every time that it came on!!! Your love of music certainly rubbed off on me. Forever in my memories are the great camping trips, with your large group of friends and the all night sing alongs. We had some great times and I am sure a lot of camp sites were not too happy with us. There were some great parties too. It was fun being Clive’s younger sister and getting to hang out with my big brother and his friends. You even let me hang out with some of your girl friends too. I will always remember the great sing alongs around the fire pit at Mom and Dads place in Port Franks. You kept the kids entertained. Yes we ticked off a few up tight neighbours …..but who cared!!!! If I think long enough I could come up with so many more examples of the great times ! You were a great brother, son, father, grandfather and friend. There were many times when I needed something and you were there for me. You always had a friend that could get you a discount on one thing or another…the tire discounts were great!!! Clive I love you and will miss you with all my heart. The only comfort I have, is knowing, that you are no longer suffering. Say hi to Dad for me….till we meet again!!
