Douglas T. Moore of Poughkeepsie died on October 25, 2017 at home with his family. He was born in Queens, New York on August 29, 1947, son of William and Sophie Moore. He grew up in Wantagh, New York and lived in Manhattan before moving to Poughkeepsie 30 years ago.

Doug is survived by his wife Jane Freeman Moore, his brother Allan Moore of Prescott Valley, Arizona, nephews Michael and Danny Heifetz of Bedford Hills, and the family of his heart Tara and Zack Westgate and their daughter Mason of Chesterfield, Massachusetts and Jacqueline McCaffery and Eben Hall and their children Elisabeth, Quentin, Olivia and Ethan of Westport, Connecticut.

Doug was a man of quiet strength and dignity. He was devoted to his family. An avid Sporting Clays competitor, Doug shot in several US Open championships and won trophies in local and regional events. He trained scout dogs in the United States Army and his love for dogs continued throughout his life.

Services will be held at the interim location of Congregation Shir Chadash, at the Freedom Plains United Presbyterian Church, 1168 Route 55, Lagrangeville, on Friday October 27th at 2:00 pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Congregation Shir Chadash or a charity of choice. The family will sit Shiva Saturday and Sunday evenings, October 28th and 29th, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the home of Jane Freeman Moore. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wm. G.
