McKee, George Joseph

With deep sadness, the family of George Joseph McKee, wish to announce his passing. George’s loving family was by his side when he left us to be with Jesus on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital, at the age of 85 years.

Beloved husband of Dorothy Almeda (nee Schiedel). Loved father of William McKee (Lee) and Brenda Eckstein. Much loved grandfather of Lisa Marie McKee (Andy D’Avernas), Paul McKee (Laura) and Jesse Eckstein (Cara Vandermey). Brother of Lloyd McKee (Dorothy), Ethel Robinson and predeceased by Grace Tughan and Helen Feeney.

George was a retired employee of the Kitchener Public Library, a proud veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy and served during WWII. He loved his roses and was proud of the many ribbons he had won. He was passionate about snooker and played daily with his friends at the Breithaupt Centre. George’s heart was bigger than life and he showed love and kindness for everyone he met.

George’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgeport, 544 Bridgeport Road East, Kitchener with Pastor Gloria Ryder officiating. Reception to follow at the church. Interment to follow.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital – Coronary Care Unit and a very special thank you to Chaplin Dale.
