Suddenly at his residence on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at the age of 65 yrs. Best friend, soul mate and cherished husband of Barbara (nee Wagner) for 40 years. Loving father of Christopher and Peter and his wife Jenni. Dear brother of Margaret (Jim) Darling, Paul (Carol) Koebel, Bernadette (Pat) Murray, Peter (Gayle) Koebel and sister-in-laws Gloria and Bonnie. Lovingly remembered by the Wagner family, Lisa (Bob) Curtis, Tom (Kathy) Wagner and Larry (Wendy) Wagner and will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Leonard and Redemptha Koebel and brothers John and Charlie Koebel, a sister-in-law Arlene and nephews Jim Koebel and Jeff Murray.

Mike owned and operated the Walper Tobacco Shop for 46 years, Canada’s oldest and continually operated Tobacconist. He was a dedicated supporter and fund raiser for the Waterloo Wellington Autistic Society. Mike was an avid outdoorsman loved to fish, hunt, golf, cook and garden.

Mike’s family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010 in the funeral home chapel.
