Life Story for Stanley Adams

STAN ADAMS
April 30, 1930-November 8, 2007
After a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease, Stan passed away peacefully. He was born in Crossgar, North Ireland. He was the third child of seven born to Hugh James and Mary Ellen Adams. Stan was predeceased by his three brothers, Tom, Jim and Hubert.
Stan immigrated to Canada at the age of seventeen and shortly thereafter he began his career at International Harvester as an apprentice mechanic. He was employed there for twenty one years. Desiring new challenges, Stan made a career move to Ryder Truck Rental where he stayed until his retirement in June 1993.
Beloved husband of 52 years to Shirley. He took great pride in his children, Michael (Dawn) and Sharon and his grandchildren, Jordan and Mackenzie (Sharon's children) and Alicia and Blake (Michael's children), all of K-W. Survived also by his sisters, Mary (Ray) of Toronto, Hannah (John) of Belfast N. Ireland, and his brother Edward (Anne) of Killyleagh, N. Ireland. He also loved to attend Formula One car races which Mike and Stan's Ryder buddies very generously took him (Stan had not been able to drive since his fall in June 1999 while at a car race).
Since June 2003, Stan has been in the AR Goudie Nursing home in Kitchener where he had been cared for with love, dignity and compassion. Stan's ready smile, his sense of humour and sparkling blue eyes will always be remembered by his family and friends.
Stan's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 Sunday, November 18, 2007 at 1PM. In keeping with Stan's wishes, he has been cremated, and his ashes will be scattered as he requested on the Grand Prix Race Track in his beloved Ireland.
In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance of Stan may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation or AR Goudie, Eventide Home.
