Anthony F. Pagley
Anthony F. Pagley, 87, of New Castle, passed away the morning of April 9, 2018 at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born on June 3, 1930 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Charles and Caroline Conti Pagley. Surviving at home is his beloved wife, the former Pearl Gesue, whom he married on October 10, 1953.
Anthony had worked as an inspector for Universal Rundle. He then worked as a deputy warden for the Lawrence County Jail. He also served his country as a Sergeant First Class for the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era. He was a member of St. Vitus Church. Anthony belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 455. An avid sports fan, he was a Pittsburgh Pirates fan and enjoyed bowling and golfing. Anthony’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Anthony is survived by his children, Debbie Palmer and husband Chuck of Salem, OH and Diane Flamino and husband Brady of New Castle; grandchildren, Jennifer Stabi and husband Keith, Andrew Palmer and wife Molly, Cory Palmer and wife Jess, Brady Flamino Jr. and wife Erica, Douglas Flamino, and Steven Flamino; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Victoria “Dolly” DeMatteis and Viola “PeeWee” Antonelli.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home Friday at 9:15am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father William Siple.
Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the cemetery.
