Pastor Michael Anthony Edwards, a lifetime resident of Mobile AL was born on January 29th, 1960 to the late Joe Willie and Josie Edwards. Michael was a 1978 graduate of Murphy High School and attended Alabama State University where he received a football scholarship. After accepting Christ, he was later called into the Ministry under Pastor Glenn Clarke Sr. of New Hope Baptist Church on October 16th, 1988. Michael became an ordained minister on March 17th, 1996. In 2006, God gave Michael a vision to start Plum Street Community Church. Through this Ministry, he mentored and touched many lives, especially the youth. Michael was also an Entrepreneur of Michael’s Taxi and Shuttle Service for over 20 years. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church (Atmore, AL) where Rev. Freddie Banks is Pastor. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife and caregiver, Paula Gibson Edwards. Two loving and devoted sons, Jaquan Gibson Edwards and Jordan Gibson Edwards. Two loving grandchildren, Jabraylen Bush and Journee Gibson. His spiritual parents, Mrs. Mary Dortch and the late Rev. Nathaniel Dortch. Five loving and devoted brothers and sisters. A celebration of his life and legacy will be held 11am Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the New Hope Baptist Church, 1272 Pecan Street, Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in the Gethsemane North Cemetery, Eight Mile, AL.
