Condolence From: Patricia Brennan Ricknell
Condolence: I was a year behind Simon at St. Patrick's Elementary School (and my brother Robert was in Emma's class) and was really shocked to hear from my mom that he had died. I am so very sorry. I just wanted to say to you Ceri that you are not alone and I hope your family and friends are helping you get through each day now. I too was widowed young (in my case with 3 small kids). I didn't have any grief counseling but I did read one book that helped immensely: The Other Side of Sadness. It's a scientific approach to bereavement. The main theme is resilience. And the message is hopeful. Just a tip, and you're probably overloaded with people trying to help. But as a bereaved person, it really made a difference in my life and helped me believe that I would get through everything. I hope it can help you too.

Condolence: My heartfelt condolences to Simon's family at this difficult time. We were classmates at St. Patrick's Elementary and Assumption High School. Even though I hadn't seen Simon in decades, I've always felt St. Pat's kids have a connection. I am terribly saddened to hear of his passing. I remember Simon's love for soccer and his awesome talents on the pitch were second to none. He had a wonderful ability to make people laugh, especially with his quick and witty comebacks followed by his cute, but mischievous, grin. May your memories comfort you.
With deepest sympathy,
Fiona Mascarenhas and family

Condolence: Dear Simon,
You always made me laugh when you did silly things. I will miss all our our fun times together on the weekend and when we went on vacation. I wish you could sing to me again...she likes horses. I smile when I think of you and I will never forget you. I love you.

Condolence: It’s so sad to hear of Simon’s passing. My condolences to his mom, his wife, his sons and his sisters. There were few, if any, rep soccer players who had Simon’s talent and skills, and none who enjoyed scoring a goal more. The words on these pages clearly show how much he was loved and admired and how much everyone enjoyed his spirit and passion. He’ll be missed, for sure.

Condolence: It was a shock to hear of Simon's death. I taught Simon at St. Pat's. He came to our house with our son David. Simon was always relaxed and fun, not easy when you are at your teacher's house. He was a fine young man. It looks like he continued that way into adulthood. it was a pleasure to know him."
