Obituary for James Moffett "Jimmie" Dodson
James Moffett “Jimmie” Dodson, 80, of Winchester, VA passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the V A Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.
Jimmie was born on February 7, 1937 in Culpeper, VA; the son of Nettie Frances Dodson Corbin and step father, Lacy T. Corbin. He served with the US Army. For years he was the owner of Dodson Coffee Service. He loved reading anything “history”, playing bingo, the Washington Redskins, casinos and most of all his family.
He married his wife of sixty years, Mary Ann Taylor Dodson, on May 6, 1957 in Winchester.
Along with his wife, Mary, he is survived by his children, Donna Dicker and husband, Thomas, of Bristol, TN, Barbara Bowman and husband, Doug, of Havelock, NC, James T. Dodson, and wife, Sarah, of Leesburg, VA, Judy Cunningham and husband, Dan, of Winchester and Linda Smalley of Sylva, NC; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Jones Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 p.m. A funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Joel Flower officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the V A Medical Center, Palliative Care Unit, 510 Butler Avenue, Martinsburg, WV 25405.
