Jacob J. "Boom" Ricco, 86, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on November 30, 2017 at home with his family by his side. He was born on February 12, 1931 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of John & Frances Ricco. Boom married Emilie Osika on October 16, 1954 in St. Joseph's Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. She predeceased him on June 22, 1990.
He was employed by Western Printing in Poughkeepsie, NY as a Foreman for 25 years, then with IBM in E. Fishkill, NY in Quality Assurance and finally for the last 18 years at K & D Deli on North Road in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Boom was a member of the Shamrock Club, The Fast-Pitch Softball Hall of Fame and the Mt. Carmel Men's Club. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War serving from 1952-54. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, Boom enjoyed sports, was an avid NY Yankees Fan and enjoyed Military and Western Movies.
Survivors include his son: Steven (Nydia) Ricco of Concord, N.H.; daughter: Donna Ricco of Poughkeepsie, NY; brother Marco Ricco of Poughkeepsie, NY; sister: Antoinette Smith of Poughkeepsie, NY and grandchildren: Kali Meyer, Samantha (Kory) Reynolds & Chiara (Jack) Estes. There are several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers: Frank Ricco, Sam Riccio and a sister: Bridget Parker.
Visitation will be Monday, December 4, 2017, 4-8 PM in the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Services will be Tuesday morning at 10AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorial Donations may be made to: Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation or The American Cancer Society.
