Condolence: I was so sorry to hear of David's passing. When I was living in Toronto, it was a pleasant surprise to see my new neighbour was David. Both being from Grimsby and Brock Alumni. My thoughts are with the family.

Condolence: David was my best childhood friend in Grimsby. I moved away to Chatham at the age of 11, but have always had fond memories of our fun together.Over distance and time, we heard less from each other.
After reading the others' notes about David, I can say that he has been a solid, respectable and kind person throughout his life.
Condolences to the Betzner family.

david betzner 1961-2017

i.ve just returned from a service in grimsby
for david betzner.

the family has a long history there.
he was a dedicated alumni of brock university.
his contributions, and work ethic
are a testament to his
upbringing here and on his grandparents farm.

i was introduced to him in toronto by his
friend mike wong. i sat beside mike at a dinner
where i made a comment about the wine.
mike said "i have someone you have to meet"

david had a generous laugh,
an adventurous mind and a smile that hinted of mischief.
there was a lot of potential here. it did not take
much to enlist him in some escapade or adventure
if he could find the time.

his circle of friends was a complicated venn diagram
of electronics, wine, invention, new foods, work-place
politics, investment strategies, motor-heads, and tube
amplifiers, un-conventional home construction.
i could go on; it could be arcane,
so long as it was interesting.
i was blessed to overlap more than a few of these.

i discovered his friends could easily become my friends.
they saw in him an interesting and interested soul
who cared how you were doing.
he was always willing to help.

i was on the receiving end of many telephone conversations.
a prelude to getting together, where he needed to sound out
an idea or a vexing concern.
he once revealed to me that he felt better,
knowing that i was now vexed as well.
i would often concoct an outrageous solution.
the more outrageous response was appreciated
just as well as a practical ones, if not more.

we shared a lot of wine, in moderation, and stories;
each of us living larger and broader for the shared experience.

he loved his travels, he loved his family, he loved his son.
he leaves his parents, his sister lynn, his partner tanya,
his son alexander aged 7,
and us, he leaves us;
the many, the assorted,
the work mates and mentors,
the acquaintances and the associates,
those who walked with him,
broke bread with him,
shared a story or a drink with him,
we are the ones enriched because he was our friend.

Condolence: Condolences to Tanya/Alex & the Betzner family.

I've known David since university. He had approved funding for projects I led for the university's Chinese Students' Association. David was also my Teaching Assistant at 1 time. We reconnected in Toronto & socialized quite a bit. Through him, I got to reconnect with some of the Brock alumni in the GTA. I could always count on him for info on the trades & home improvements. There were 2 pivotal points in my professional career where he helped me & I will be forever indebted to him for that.

RIP David.

Condolence:
I cannot imagine the loss that David’s parents, sister, Tanya, Alex and those who loved David most, must feel. But please accept my very deepest and heartfelt condolences.

I did not know David well, having only met him on a few occasions. But I can honestly say that he struck me as intelligent, a man of good character and a deeply devoted and caring father to Alex. So I am sure, as typical with men of such qualities, he will be very greatly missed by all who knew him.
