Obituary for Frederick C. Lier

Frederick C. Lier, 90 of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away at home on June 23, 2017. He was born on June 28, 1926 in the Bronx, NY, the son of Fritz & Anna Lier. A graduate of New York City Schools, he graduated from the U. of Michigan in 1952 following Military Service.
Fred was employed for 33 years at IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY as a Systems Engineer until they retired him. He ran for Town Supervisor in Hyde Park in 1976 and was a member of VFW Vail-Wolfe Post #170.
He was a Sgt. First Class in the US Army during W.W.II serving with the 3rd Armored Division in Europe as a Tank Crewman and worked at the Aberdeen Proving Ground.
Fred enjoyed dancing, Dutchess Singles and loved reading poetry. He spent his summers in New Fairfield, CT. He attended every W.W.II Ceremony he could so that he could honor those who did not come home.
Survivors include his daughter: Debra Lier Mannain and Fred's loving son-in-law: Mark; sons Ricky and Barry Lier. He was the proud grandfather to Karlee Mannain and many other wonderful grandchildren.
There are no services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial Donations may be made to: Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or Patient Services at Castle Point Veteran's Medical Center in Castle Point, NY.
