Passed away peacefully with his grandson Joel at his side at Forest Heights LTC on Thursday August 24, 2017 at the age of 97. Born March 13, 1920 in St Peter’s Bay P.E.I., last surviving son of the late Stephen and Mary Ellen (Flynn) MacDonald.
Beloved husband of Mae MacDonald (Evers Roussy), passing away on their 39th anniversary. Dear father and stepfather of Dianne Gow (Evers), Randy MacDonald (Liz) and Rick Evers (Maryanne).
Proud grandfather of Joel, Alex, Angela, Jennie (Marc), Amanda, Joe, Kathryn and great grandfather to Caitlin, Kyla, Nathan, Michael and Lily on the way. Loving uncle to Carolyn (Ralph) Doucette.
Predeceased by son Gary, stepson Robert and siblings, Sarah, Mary, Martha, Georgina and Anais. Survived by his sister-in-law Dorothy (late John) and brother-in-law Norbert.
Joe was a veteran of WW II and past president of Legion Br 50. For years he stood for hours selling poppies at Sobeys on Highland Rd. Joseph retired from Uniroyal where he was an Engineer. Cremation has taken place.
Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Parish, 56 Duke Street West, on Tuesday August 29, 2017 at 10 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. Private cremation has taken place. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. Arrangements entrusted to Henry Walser Funeral Home (519) 749-8467.
