Deborah Jean Stransky (born Deborah Jean Herriman 4-6-52) passed away peacefully in her home on April 17th, 2017. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Clyde and Violet Herriman, and her sisters Melody and Linda Herriman.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, Henry Stransky of Union Vale, daughters and sons-in-laws Linda and Steve Slater and Jennifer and Justin Ficurilli, and two small grandsons Xavier and Quinn. She is also survived by her brother Clyde Jr. and sister-in-law Linda Herriman of Poughkeepsie, her sister Dixie Strange and her husband Gary of Alabama, her sister Bonnie Brown and her husband Doug of North Carolina, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A lifelong area resident, Debbie graduated from Arlington High School in 1970 and married Henry Stransky on October 25, 1970. She worked 41 years at Big V Shop Rite stores in Fishkill and Poughkeepsie as an assistant scanning coordinator.
She enjoyed fine dining, family vacations, and crossword and sudoku puzzles. Along with her husband, she was an avid casino player and enjoyed the ocean and boardwalk in Atlantic City.
Her biggest passion was her family, and she was a devoted Wife, Mother and Nana. Her two grandchildren, Xavier and Quinn, were her pride and joy. Her warm shy smile and great personality will be forever remembered.
Calling hours will be held on Monday April 24th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home at 371 Hooker Avenue in Poughkeepsie. The funeral will be at the funeral home on Tuesday April 25th at 10:00am followed by burial at Union Cemetery in Hyde Park. Memorial donations can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice or American Cancer Society.
