What a blessing you are to this world Uncle Bob. Your light, kind gentleness, love, generosity and compassion shine on in all of those lucky enough to have known and loved you. I have nothing but the fondest memories and so much gratitude for having you as an uncle. Sitting in grandma's backyard, talking to the birds and squirrels with you. Surprise car rides to Leon's for custard, and dragging you away from rummage sales, arms full of things that only you could see as "treasures." So thoughtful, no matter where I was living, somehow you always managed to track me down and I would find a birthday card in my mailbox. Always wacky, always there to make me laugh, always there to listen, to encourage. Always full of love, always full of stories, of curiosity for the world and fearless in the search. One of a kind. You are loved, and will be so fiercely missed.
I am so lucky to have had Bobby in my life. He could make me laugh so hard I would be crying. We talked just a few weeks ago for a long time and he sounded so good and of course we laughed a lot. I loved him and will miss him very much but I have a lot of great memories that I will cherish.
Bob, You saw everyone you met as an equal, never less than you, and you had a genuine love for the people in your life. Your desire to learn and discover new things was a lesson to all of us to never stop looking for wonder all around us. You lived life on your own terms, but never turned away from the important roles in your life, or put yourself above the people around you. You took great pride in being a son, brother, and father and the love you felt for your family was so evident in every tale re-visited. You were an example of love, kindness and compassion as you delivered gifts on holidays or visited sick friends and relatives. You have left a lasting impression on the hearts of those who were fortune enough to have known you. I will never forget how you welcomed me from the first time we met, and all the time I was able to spend with you. I feel so blessed to have known and loved you. I will always remember you as a compassionate free spirit who deeply loved his family with an unshakable desire to keep discovering life. I believe the world is a better place because you were part of it.
I always thought my cousin Bobby looked like a movie star in his high school graduation picture! Think James Dean... Always super funny, interested in everything, and able to make friends in a heartbeat, and absolutely made me feel like i was the most important person alive when we were talking. I drove him back from Florida in 2009 and we had a "blast"!! It took us 4 days because we stopped everywhere something looked interesting. I shared a hotel room with him and we laughed all night long at the fact people thought we were married..lol...
He is heaven now with my Uncle Sylvester and my Auntie Priscilla and I for one will have a beer with a small can of tomato juice that I will sneak in my pocket (just like he did) as toast for all the years he seemed more like a brother than a cousin to me!! I love him and I will miss him more than I can put into words. He was one of a kind.
