Jerry Jerome “Big Bean” Seals was born in Prichard, AL on August 17, 1950 to the late Reverend John and Creslyn Seals. He departed this life on March 8, 2017 in Mobile, AL at the age of 66. He is preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Seals; three brothers, Phillip Seals, Charles Seals and Bishop LaBaron Seals. Mr. Seals is a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a medic during the Vietnam War assisting wounded troops in the combat zone and his bravery earned him medals, as well as accolades from his commanding officer. At a young age, Jerry inherited a strong work ethic from his father and a love for working on cars. He retired after a career of more than 37 years of dedicated service to Mobile County Public Works Department, where he was a Vehicular/Equipment Specialist.
He was a Little League Football Coach and a role model for children in the community known as “Coach Seals” by many including his sons. He had the gift of lighting up a room with his infectious smile and great sense of humor. When he was not coaching and working he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and listening to music.
Jerry is survived by one daughter, Jerolyn Denise Seals-Smith of Mobile, AL; three sons, William Jerome Seals of Mobile, AL, John Le Barron Seals of Lake City, FL and Anthony O’Neal Seals of Orange, NJ; a loving and devoted special friend, Carolyn Elaine Smith of Mobile, AL; six sisters, Dorothy Carroll Seals-Davis of Prichard, AL, Shirley (Elder Augustus) McNair of Omaha, NE, Lucille Alexander of Mobile, AL, Anniece Seals of Los Angeles, CA, Charlotte (Bishop Melvin) Lambert of Fayetteville, NC, Barbara Seals of Prichard, AL; two brothers, Johnny Seals of Pensacola, FL, Michael (Brenda) Seals of Mobile, AL; three grandchildren, Cameron Seals, Montel Seals and Madalyn Seals, all of Mobile, AL; a devoted nephew, Joseph Alexander, Jr.; an honorary mother, Jessie Lee Holder of Prichard, AL; Jerry is cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 12pm until the 2pm funeral hour in Small’s Mortuary Chapel, 950 South Broad Street, Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in the Lawn Haven Cemetery, Theodore, AL.
