In 1943, during World War II at the age of 21 yrs, Doris joined the Women’s Army Corp, she was very patriotic and loved her country with her service. During her time in basic training in Aberdeen, MD, she met Marine Private Olas M. Plemons, after only three dates, on September 15, 1946 they were married and began a new journey in Jacksboro, TX. She always said, you are never too old to learn, she attended Oklahoma University previous to 1978 and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree and continued to teach children for many years.
