We sure miss Joel. He was a wonderful friend and person. He had a smile on his face most of the time, and made us smile almost every visit. He was a positive person, even though he suffered much. Joel was very inspiring. He loved getting outside in nature, often going to the forest via the new paved path to the Job Corp. He loved fishing, often talking about the times he spent at the waterfall along East Fork Road, as a young man, on Charles Taylor's property. He spent a lot of time there. Joel wrote cards to inmates, and visited inmates at the local jail, to encourage them. He read a lot of books, many of them spiritual books, in search of meaning. He loved the TV show "Andy Griffith." He deeply loved his sister Patsy, who gave of her life to take care of him, and she gave him EXCELLENT care for many years. He loved his mother. Joel was my best friend. My wife and I will deeply miss him.
