Obituary for Dewel Ray Basham

Dewel Ray Basham, 84, of Rudy, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 in a local hospital. He worked at Dixie Cup before starting his career as a builder. He was a member of the Van Buren Masonic Lodge, member of the Heritage Church in Van Buren and a lifelong Methodist. Dewel loved hunting, wood working. He was a former member of the Van Buren School Board and member of the Van Buren State Champion Football Team. He was born February 23, 1937 to the late Dewel Basham, Sr. and Opal Vines Basham. He was also preceded in death by Emma Sue Pursell Basham; a son, Joseph Burkhart; granddaughter, Regan Basham; brother, Ricky Basham and two sisters, Wanda Neidecker and Joanne Seid.

Dewel was the most loving husband in the world and best daddy and pops ever.

A family held visitation will be at the home, 900 Sugar Maple Bend, Rudy, AR Friday evening, April 30, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Survivors include his wife Paula of the home, a daughter, Carol Coleman and husband Bill of Mountainburg, AR; son, Butch Basham and wife Denise of Chester, AR and Gary Burkhart and wife Diane of Rudy, AR; sister, Judy Bushmier of CO; grandchildren, Whitney Ralston and husband Justin, Chelsey Barling and husband Aaron, Beau Basham, Matt Coleman and wife Dana, John Thomas Coleman and wife Angie, Adam Coleman and wife Helga, Catherine Clawson and husband Brad, Lance Burkhart and Hunter Burkhart; 24 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter.
