Obituary for Ona J Walker (Webb)

Ona Juanita Walker she passed away at home in Van Buren, Arkansas on March 19, 2021. Juanita was born September 28, 1929 in Dutch Creek Valley, Scott County Arkansas to Archie and Ona Victoria Webb. Juanita married Marion M. Walker August 8, 1954 in Fort Smith. Juanita graduated from Waldron High School in 1949. She graduated Sparks School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1952. She worked as an emergency/surgery RN in Arkansas, California, and Texas. She was Director of Nursing at Methodist Nursing Home in 1968-1970. She retired from Sparks Hospital in 1990. She was a past president of Arkansas Association of Operating Room Nurses and served as an AORN international delegate. Juanita enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading. Juanita was a member of the German-American Club and of the Methodist Faith. Juanita was raised on St. Louis Cardinal baseball radio broadcasts, but recently shared some of her interest with the Texas Rangers. All of that pales when compared to her passion for all things Arkansas Razorbacks sports – Woo Pig Sooie. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marion M. Walker, brothers Jeff, Lee, Wayne, and Don Webb, and sister Modena Glidewell.

Juanita is survived by daughters Vikki and husband Jim Nicholas of Baytown, Texas, Sheri and husband Tyler Treadway of Stuart, Florida, and son Gary & wife Ronda Walker of Cypress, Texas. Juanita has 4 grandchildren: granddaughter Kristy Nicholas and husband Noel Costigan, grandsons Brent and wife Sara Nicholas, David Walker, Mark and wife Katie Walker. Juanita has 3 great-granddaughters – Kimber, Bryleigh, and Victoria Nicholas.

Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 29, 2021 at the Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
