Billy Dale Coleman, 71, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in a local hospital. He was born on October 11, 1949 in Spiro, Oklahoma to Billy G. and Ruth (Broom) Coleman. He was a U.S. Army Captain of the Vietnam War era and was retired from Arkla-Centerpoint Natural Gas Company. Billy was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the Choctaw Nation, the Bokoshe American Legion and a former teacher at St. Boniface Catholic School. He loved spending time with his family and traveling with his wife and grandchildren.
A private family memorial service with military honors will be held at the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth of the home; two daughters, Christiana Beth Mathews and her husband Derek, and Carrie Lynn Hill both of Fort Smith and four grandchildren, Noah Thomas Mathews, Jeremiah Billy Mathews, Coleman Aaron Hill and Chloe Lynn Hill.
