Obituary for Jeannette Elizabeth "Jean" Morton (Robinson)

Jeannette Elizabeth (Robinson) Morton
March 23, 1937 - October 27, 2020

Jeannette Elizabeth Robinson Morton was born on Tuesday, March 23, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Denver Madison Robinson and Mary Katherine (Verser) Robinson. She completed her life at her home in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, October 27, 2020.

Jeannette went by "Jeannette" or "Jean," depending on when or how you knew her. She was raised in Bethany and graduated from Bethany High School. She was a proud alumna of Oklahoma State University, where in 1959, she earned a bachelor's degree in Housing and Interior Design.

Jean was a member - and past International President of Sigma Phi Gamma, an international service sorority.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Alva Morton, Sr. in 1999, and her brother, Richard Robinson, in 2018.

Jean is survived by her stepsons: Robert A. Morton, Jr. of Manchaca, TX, Steven A. Morton of Sammamish, WA; David W. Morton of Redmond, WA; and J. Douglas Morton of Sapulpa, OK. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Robinson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her nephew, Gregg Robinson of Seattle, WA; and her niece Kelly Louise Thompson of Denver, Colorado.

Among those left behind to remember Jean are members of generations younger than that of her stepsons and her niece and nephew. Some of those called her "GrandJean." Of course, it's likely that each of Jean's sorority sisters has a story to tell about her, too. Most of those stories are true!

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at Bethany Cemetery.
