Obituary for Jean Kobs

Jean Kobs, age 93, passed away peacefully October 1, 2020 due to complications of Dementia. She was born on February 18, 1927 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Harry and Levona Cross. She was married to the love of her life Maurice A. Wood, who preceded her in death in 1986.
She lived in Pawhuska, OK, Tahlequah, OK, and graduated from High School in Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1945. After graduation, she moved to Tulsa for a short time, and then moved to Oklahoma City where she lived the rest of her life. She retired from OCU Meinders School of Business in 2010 at the age of 83. She loved to travel with the International Program at OCU. She loved trips to Okarche for fried chicken at Eischens with her OCU dinner family. She enjoyed shopping trips and spending lots of time with her daughter Jeanne and granddaughter Audrey. She was especially fond of her great-grandson Cade and was so proud of his accomplishments. She looked forward to having a cocktail with her son-in-law Alan, and grandson-in-law Corey, she wouldn’t turn down an ice cold Coors Light, or a vodka tonic. She was always up for a good time!
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Maurice A. Wood, her parents, Harry and Levona Cross, one sister, Mabel Miller, and two brothers, Harry Laforce Cross, and Leon Cross.
She is survived by her daughter Jeanne W. Matthews and husband, Alan, of Oklahoma City, granddaughter Audrey D. Kinzie and husband Corey, of Oklahoma City, and great-grandson Cade Kinzie, of Oklahoma City, sister Shirley Farrington and husband, Dalton of Tahlequah, and brother Gary Cross, and wife, Phyllis, of McKinney, TX, and multiple nieces and nephews.
She has spent the last three years of her life in Memory Care at Southern Plaza in Bethany, Oklahoma, the family is grateful for the care and compassion of the caregivers and staff. The family is especially thankful for Serena and the entire Traditions Health & Hospice staff who brought solace and comfort to Jean and her family in her final days.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, October 6 from 4-6 p.m and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday October 7, 2:00 pm at Vondel L. Smith & Son, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Oklahoma City’s mask ordinance will be in place.
