Obituary for Jane "Mema" Fischer (Whitten)
Jane “Mema” Fischer, 87, of Barling, AR passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at a local hospital. She was a retired maintenance coordinator for Rheem manufacturing company of Fort Smith, enjoyed spending time with her family and going to the casino. Jane was born August 15, 1932 in Haubstadt, Indiana to the late Charles and Ruth (Riffert) Whitten. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Fischer; a sister, Barbara Jo, and a son, Eddie.
Service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at the United States National Cemetery in Fort Smith, AR under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Survivors include a daughter, Tammie Johnson of Barling, AR; a son Steven Fischer of Dallas, TX; a brother, Gary Whitten of Haubstadt, IN; 4 grandchildren;13 great grandchildren; 6 nephews and 1 niece.
The Family will visit with friends and relatives Monday, January 6, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Ocker Memorial Chapel of Van Buren, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren, AR.
