Obituary for Earl DeWayne Duty

Earl DeWayne Duty, 61 of Alma passed away Friday, December 27, 2019 in a local hospital. He was a Navy Veteran traveling on the USS John King DDG3 in the Mediterranean and receiving a Blue Nose Certificate. Then he enlisted into United States Army National Guard serving in A Battery of the 2nd Battalion of the 142 Field Artillery. With the National Guard and was mobilized in 1991 to help fight the ground war in Desert Storm in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. He was a Post Commander of Robert Jack VFW #1322 and a District 7 Commander for the state of Arkansas and worked for JM Supply for 16 years. Earl was born August 17, 1958 in Sonora, CA to the late Earl Dean Duty and Charlotte Hobbs Duty.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Ocker Chapel of Alma with interment at Fort Smith United States National Cemetery with full military honors.

He is survived by his companion, Judy Scott of the home; a son Erik Duty and wife Terra of Alma; daughter, Elizabeth Duty of Van Buren; his mother Charlotte A. Duty of Van Buren; a sister Jeannie Cassatt and husband Rod of Fort Smith; 4 grandchildren, Kinley Duty, Macey Duty, Jake Rojas and Connor Duty; honorary son, Nathan Scott of Van Buren and many other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Matt Hicks, Tony Rice, Larry Briley, Cliff Hays, Kurt Lucari and Robert Coulson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Cravens, Chris Robbins, Larry Mendenhall and members of the Robert Jack VFW Post 1322.

Family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Ocker Chapel of Alma, 917 Hwy 64 E., Alma, AR.
