Obituary for Bonnie Ruth Blair

Bonnie Ruth Blair, 89 of Van Buren formerly of Houston passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in a local hospital. She was born on March 11, 1930 to Evelyn Ana Blair and George H. Blair. She was born at Houston Methodist Hospital. Until years caught up with Bonnie in 2013 she lived her entire life in Houston. She graduated from La Porte High School at age 15 years and 2 months. She finished the Secretarial Program at Elliott’s Business College and immediately started to work for Retail Credit Company. Retail Credit eventually became Equifax, a company where she worked for 46 years. She worked as a secretary, team leader, group supervisor, senior service supervisor, and finally secretary to the Vice President of Sales for the Houston office.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Houston and the Fellowship Class. Fellowship Class and its many members were an important part of her later years in Houston. Bonnie also enjoyed collecting art glass and antiques, cultivating and growing roses, rare orchids and African Violets.

She is survived by a sister, Sharon Shawkey of Van Buren, two brothers, George L. Blair of Houston and Robert A. Blair of Van Buren. There are also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will hold a private memorial service at a later date in Houston. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
