Obituary for Mary L. Gibson
Mary L. Gibson, 102, of New Castle passed away the evening of June 10, 2019 at UPMC Jameson.
Born on November 13, 1916 in Four States, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Katherine Slaman.
Mary had worked as a clerk for Bruce & Merilees Electric Company, not retiring until she was 88 years young.
Mary was a member of El-Fityet Allaween Syrian Association Ladies Auxiliary. Mary was also a member of the VFW Woman’s Auxiliary, and enjoyed visiting casinos. Her greatest passion was love of family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children, Joanne Marshall and her husband Jack of New Castle, Roger Gibson, Jr. and his companion Kim Carlson of Moosup, CT, her granddaughter, Laurie Griffith and her husband Robert, and two great grandchildren, Jonah and Mary Griffith.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her two brothers, Abe and Albert Slaman, two sisters, Josephine Slaman and Ann Jones, and her grandson, John Marshall.
Visitation will be held on Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St.
A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.
