Obituary for Ross William Armstrong

ARMSTRONG, Ross William Peacefully slipped the surly bonds of earth at his home on Thursday, May 16th, 2019, in the loving company of his wife Annette and daughter Tracey.

Ross was born November 30th 1936 in Toronto Ontario the second son of George Davey Armstrong and Dorothy Anne Armstrong. With an enormous sense duty and passion for adventure he enlisted in the RCAF in 1952 and began a 33year career, first as a drill instructor and later as an air traffic controller. His adventure took him from one end of our country to the other, from Canada to Europe and back again. After retiring from the RCAF in 1985 he continued to serve with the Canadian Corps of Commissioners until 2001.

He was the greatest of gentleman, the kindest of souls, and a light for all of us to follow.

Ross was predeceased by his father George Davey Armstrong, his mother Dorothy Anne Armstrong (nee Driscoll), and his first wife of 43years Patricia Barbara Armstrong (nee Coward).
Ross is survived by his wife Annette (nee Barcroft), his sons David (Carla) of Moncton NB, Andy (Colleen) of Yellowknife NWT, his daughter Tracey (Michael) of Kingston ON and his brother George (Audrey) of Lakefield ON. As well as 7 grandchildren: Nadia, Nicole, Holly, Ryan, Ryan, Randy and Katherine; and great grandchild Parker. Also step children Carolyn (Don), Andrew (Missy), and Jon Iain (Dawna) and step grandchildren and countless extended family members and friends.

A great big thank you for all the hugs, kisses and prayers from our friends and relatives of all faiths, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim.

Our gratitude also goes to Dr. Mark Dodds and all at Quinte Health. VON, and Bayshore especially home care nurse Lauren. Also Dr. Chor and Marg at Glaziers Medical Centre Oshawa.

A private internment will take place with just family.
An open house drop in will be Friday May 24 from 4-8pm at 1674 County Rd #5 Stockdale.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations can be made to the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation.
