Obituary for Dr. Nelson Trick

He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles Edwin Trick and Hazel Violet (Hendricks) Trick; older brother, Robert Charles Trick; and first wife, Viola Lorene (Collins) Trick.

He is survived by four daughters: Victoria Sue Craig, Bette Kathlene Gilson, married to Bruce Gilson, Hazel Malenda Trick Shaw, married to Clark Shaw and Helen Deana Louise Trick; one son, Nelson Dean Trick II, married to Deborah Trick; eighteen grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.

He graduated from Parker Co-op, Dayton, Ohio in 1945.

He started his formal education at Anderson College, where he met Viola Lorene Collins and they were married June 14, 1946 in Anderson, Indiana at Park Place Church of God. They have 4 daughters.

He continued his education and earned four advanced degrees:
Bachler of Arts from Trinity University, San Antonio;
Masters of Theology and Systematic Theology;
Masters from Bonebrake Seminary, Dayton, Ohio;
Doctorate of Ministry from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio.

He pastored churches in Indiana, Dallas, TX, Tyler, TX, and Capitol Hill in OKC.

On August 15, 1965 the entire Trick household arrived in Houston, Texas where Nelson began his teaching career at Gulf-Coast Bible College teaching Bible and Art.

After his first wife passed away, he married Peggy Ann Matheny on December 15, 1984 in Gaulke Chapel in Houston, Texas.

In the summer of 1985 Nelson and Peggy moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where GBC relocated and Mid-America Bible College and later Mid America Christian University. He continued to teach full time until 2001.
Dr. Trick has said he was honored for the opportunity to teach and to serve the Lord.
