Mrs. LaVerda Beatrice Willoughby, 87, departed this life February 20, 2019, at St. Annes Hospital with her family by her side. LaVerda was born November 28, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to Charles Hope Harris and Carolyn Elizabeth Cowell.

LaVerda was a lifelong Toledo resident, who graduated from Edward Drummond Libbey High School in 1949. LaVerda accepted Christ at an early age. She enjoyed gospel music. Her favorite artists were Mahalia Jackson, James Cleveland and The Mighty Clouds of Joy.

She was preceded in death by both parents; sister, Carolyn Brown; brothers, Louis and Vincent Wiley and George Harris; niece, Deborah Ann Brown; and grand-daughter, GeVeta Willoughby Echols.

LaVerda will be dearly missed by her sons, Anthony (Patricia), Gerald (Lorraine), Bruce (Marie Sprague), Keith (Sharon), and Deric Willoughby. Although she had five boys, she was was very fond of her daughters-in-law. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are special nieces, Vincetta Abdul Rahman and Taharah Abdul Rahman, and a host of other loving nieces and nephews, relatives and friends
