Obituary for Michael Don Stewart

Michael Stewart, 53 of Van Buren passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 in a local hospital. He served twenty one years on the Van Buren Police Department. He was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Spradling Baptist Church in Fort Smith. He was a volunteer fireman for District 5 Fire Department in Van Buren, where he was assistant chief, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also on the SWAT team. He was preceded in death by a son, Mason.

Funeral services will be 10AM, Monday February 18, 2019 at Spradling Baptist Church in Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife Debbie of the home; one daughter Morgan Stewart of the home; his parents Sandy & Max Stewart of Fort Smith; one sister Margo Capps and husband Charles of Lowell; one brother Joey Stewart and wife Maryanne of Rogers;maternal grandparents Fred and Sarah Colvett from Clarksville, Arkansas; a brother from another mother Larry Brown of Van Buren; a close cousin Roger Stewart of Pine Bluff; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will visit with relatives and friends Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 2-4 PM at Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren 700 Jefferson Street. Please wear your fight with Mike shirt to the viewing.

Pallbearers will be Retired Sgt. Jack Robinson, Cpl. Shane Ridenour, Cpl. George Edelen, Cpl. Chuck Green, Cpl. Nic Harvey and Morgan Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Van Buren Police Department, Members of the Crawford County District 5 VFD and Members of Van Buren Fire Department.
