Obituary for Virginia "Ginny" Bergstrom

Virginia “Ginny” (Ellsworth) Bergstrom, 82, of Somers passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Virginia was born October 16, 1936, in Stafford Springs the daughter of the late Harry J. and Helen J. (Scheiner) Ellsworth. Virginia was a graduate of the Ellsworth Memorial High School Class of 1954 and received her Associates from Manchester Community College in 1976. She lived most of her life in Somers, a year in Alaska and three years in Liege Belgium. In the early 80’s Virginia traveled throughout most of Europe. Ginny loved cooking and gardening, as she put it “I’m the Farmers Daughter”. Virginia is survived by her two sons, Michael H. Hill of Storrs and Paul E. Hill and his wife, Dawn of Coventry; her grandsons, Daniel H. Hill of Oakland, ME, Jeffrey M. Hill of Raymond, ME, Paul C. Hill of Wilton, ME; her newest great-granddaughter, Brianna Lynn; sisters, Beryl Wilson and Carolyn Cowles both of Windsor Locks, Jean Wilson of East Hartford, Gladys Nolan of Enfield and several nieces and nephews. Virginia was predeceased by an infant brother, Grant Ellsworth; her sister, Harriet Colley and her best friend and companion Harry C. Bergstrom. The family would like to thank the doctor’s nurses and staff with Trinity Health at Home for their wonderful and compassionate care. Per Ginny’s wishes there are no calling hours and funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Somers Funeral Home.
