Obituary for Ellsworth Neal

Eld. Ellsworth “Floyd” Neal, Born November 4, 1933, to the union of the Late Noah Neal and the Late Anna Price-Neal, in Springfield, OH. He was the fourth of eight children. Having been raised in rural Springfield, Floyd was no stranger to hard work. His upbringing prepared him for a life of “service”. He was always willing to help anyone. Because of that, many people called upon him in their time of need. Whether it was monetary, car repairs, plumbing or other housing issues, he rendered his services cheerfully. Floyd was a “jack of all trades, and a master of many!” This man of God was all over the city of Toledo and the surrounding areas, being a help wherever he was needed. Not only was he known for repairing cars, he also knew the best places to take you to purchase one. Although his fees were nominal, there were many who were unable to, or unwilling to give him what he asked. He never held that against you, and most times he would help those individuals again.

Floyd enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War, at the age of seventeen. After his tour of duty, he relocated to Toledo to join other close family members. He secured employment with Community Traction for several years, working as a bus driver. Later he moved on to Libbey Owens Ford, and retired after 30+ years. His retirement afforded him the opportunity to do the things he loved, like working on his houses, cars, and conversing with people.

During the late 1960’s, Floyd met Eld. Ernest Cross, and decided it was time to return to his spiritual roots. He joined Bethel Apostolic Temple and remained there until Eld. Cross released him to go pastor the Central Baptist Church. In the late 1980’s the church dissolved and Eld. Neal moved his membership to Good News Chapel, under the Pastorage of Dr. Blandine Walls. He remained there until his illness incapacitated him.

Eld. Ellsworth Neal departed this life on December 5, 2018. He was preceded in death by four of his siblings. He leaves to cherish his memories, 2 Sons: Keith (Samone) and Clay Ellsworth; 3 Daughters: Caren (Norman) Hinton, Carla Johnson, and Inez Smith of Huntsville, AL; 2 Brothers: Gary (Mae) Neal, Kenneth (Katie) Neal; 1 Sister: Florence Portman. 24 Grands, 17 Great Grands, and a host of In-Laws, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Many he called friends.
