James A. Pettaway Jr age 36, "LA" or "Lil Al" passed away Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at St. Vincent's Mercy Medical. James was born Oct. 23, 1982 to Tina L. Rogers and James A. Pettaway Sr. in Toledo, OH. He was full of life, always happy and smiling, and had the silliest laugh. "Al" loved playing basketball and played all trough school accumulating many trophies and honors. James loved rap music, dancing and "Taco-Tuesday's". He enjoyed spending time with his nieces, taking them to parks and other outings. He worked landscaping, roofing, home remodeling and some factory work throughout the years. "Al" loved his family and was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by daughter, Jakia Pettaway; sons, James Pettaway III, Jamar Pettaway and Cato Hornbeak; father, James A. Pettaway Sr.; mother, Tina Rogers; step-father, Denny Smith; sisters, Tiffany Pettaway and Dennshayla Smith; brothers, Dennard "Dreas" Garmon, Deonta Parker, Tjuan Anderson and Jeffrey Martin Jr.; grandmother, Debra Williams; grandchildren, Jceyon Pettaway, Jamilah Pettaway, Semaj Pettaway, Italy Pettaway and Isaiah Pressley Jr.; cousin and close friend, John "John-John" Jackson; nieces, Jayden Parker, Jersey Parker, Rae'Lynn Draper, and Jamya Martin; nephew, Day'vion Garmon, cousins, Damean Rogers, Josh and John Jackson, Jaimie Carter, Lue Rogers, Tony Rogers and Gloria Rogers; close friends, TJ, Kevin, Robert and Rosandra Hornbeak, Sonequa Hopings, Michael "Jake" Henderson, Yolanda Carter, Terrance Pernell, Chantel Rogers and Jay Flounoy, and a host of other family and friends.
