Obituary for Gladys Lincoln

Gladys Lincoln, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on December 9, 2018 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born May 6, 1929 in Brinkley, Arkansas. She, her husband and daughter came to Toledo in 1947. She was a homemaker for many years. Later in life she worked for Toledo Head Start and was a volunteer for Toledo Hospital for over 20 years. She married Herman Lincoln in February 10, 1045, and to this union six children were born. The Lincoln family were members for many years at Jerusalem Baptist Church.

She was a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and more recent a great-great grandmother. She touched each of the five generations that came from her. She will truly be missed. She loved to laugh, tell stories and talk on the phone to her many church friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at UTMC for their hard work and dedication of care: Dr. Hernandez, Dr. Tariq, nurses Tricia, Chris, Danny and Arianna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lincoln Sr.; daughters, Starrie Denise Lincoln and Priscilla Lincoln; brother, Floyd James; and sisters, Wilma Burkhalter and Almeature Terrell.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Monica Lee Esmond; sons, Lawrence Lincoln, Herman Lincoln Jr.; daughter, Cynthia Louise Lincoln; brother, Paul James; sister, Ceceila (Leander) Smith; sister-in-law, Lula Faye Vance; grandson, Jeremy (Christina) Lincoln; granddaughters, Lorrine (Calvin) Randall, Valada Lincoln, Heather Esmond, Shonda Lincoln; and grandson, Monroe Smith, IV., many great-great grands, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13, 2018 at 10 a.m. Family Hour and Funeral at 11:00 am Visitation on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at The House of Day.
