Obituary for Arthur Grandison Lang, III

Arthur (Art) Grandison Lang, III, 67, of Kilmarnock, Virginia passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018. Born October 30, 1950 in High Point, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Arthur and Florence Lang, Jr.

Art was raised in Media, Pennsylvania, graduated from Bloomsburg State College and made a career in Washington D.C. as Chief Executive Officer of Insituform East, Inc. He retired to Kilmarnock in 1991 where he soon became involved in coaching youth baseball. Between 1994-1996, in addition to beginning Lancaster High School’s JV baseball program, he revived the school’s varsity baseball team as head coach – delivering Lancaster its first district championship ever. After coaching high school baseball, Art focused his attention on creating a baseball complex for all children of Lancaster County and surrounding areas. The Youth Club of Lancaster County, or Dream Fields, was the result of Art’s dedication and passion to offer every child a place to play ball and a facility that the community could be proud of. He was a very active member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Art is survived by his daughter, Diana Thomas (David); son, Arthur Lang IV (Whitney); grandchildren, Daniel Thomas, Kyle Thomas, Katherine Thomas and Jamie Lang; sisters, Terry Taggart and Florence Pisciotta; nieces, Terry Daglis and Emily Dorr; and nephews, Jacob Buit and Drew Dorr.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Currie Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00pm. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Dreamfields Endowment Fund c/o River Counties Community Foundation PO Box 222, Kilmarnock, Virginia 22482 (checks made payable to: RCCF, memo notation: Dreamfields Endowment Fund).
