Obituary for
Hugh Patton
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Hugh “Paddy” at Joseph Brant Hospital on Monday, February 5th, in his 88th year.
Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Margaret (nee Robson), his daughters Judy Graves (Larry) and Nancy Tucker (Scott) and his number one grandson Harrison Patton Tucker. Hugh was the fun-loving Uncle of Matthew, Peter, David, Stephen, Sloan and loyal brother-in-law to Max Pickfield and Bill Robson.
Predeceased by his beloved sister Joan Pickfield, two children; Benji and Janey and his granddaughter Maggie.
Hugh grew up in Westdale and played football for Westdale High and later was on the Junior Tiger Cats Championship Team, a highlight of his youth. Sports were a big part of his early life which led him to coaching amateur baseball, minor hockey and becoming President of the Minor Hockey Association in Burlington. He was active in his community and for many years was a volunteer firefighter, member of the Burlington Central Lions Club and the Burlington Golf & Country Club and he owned a local business, Robson Fuels, with his brother-in-law and friend Bill Robson.
He was extremely proud of his family and a good friend to many and particulary cherished his life-long friendships with the Westdale group.
Hugh loved a good story, a good joke and a good laugh and one of his greatest pleasures was entertaining his family and friends at a “Patton Party”. Please join us in honoring Hugh at a reception at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 3-5 pm.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Carpenter Hospice or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
