Obituary for Council Cleveland Hubbard Sr.

Mr. Council Cleveland Hubbard, Sr., better known as C.C. or Cleveland, was born on June 22, 1926 and departed this life on Friday, December 2, 2017. He was 91 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Abraham (Abbie) Hubbard; five sisters, Monie Mae, Ellen, Dorothy Mae, Alfreda, and Rozena; four brothers, Curvey, Samuel, Chester, and Jim; his beloved son, Council Cleveland Hubbard, Jr.

Cleveland Hubbard married the daughter of Hammer (Eugenia) Clark, Sr., Genevieve Clark. There were six children born to this union. Cleveland and Genevieve were married for “45” years before she united with the Lord on August 10, 1989. They had a good, loving life.
Cleveland was a seaman with the Merchant Marine for “42” years. He went to sea from 1943-1985 at which time he retired. He was a faithful member of the St. James Major Catholic Church until his health began to fail.

He leaves to cherish his loving and devoted memories, two loving and devoted daughters, Eugenia (Clifton) Overton, Sr. and son, Kennet Jerome Hubbard, Deborah (Calvin) Gill, Sr. with the help of their children, sister, and brother, was a loving devoted caregiver.

Cleveland leaves two loving sisters, Rosie Lee and Phara Lee; one loving sister-in-law, Gertrude Clark Jackson; two devoted daughters-in-law, Anita and Isabell Hubbard; sixteen (16) grandchildren; twenty-three (23) great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; very devoted and loving friends Larena Lucious, J.D. Holloway, Bernadette Green, Mr,. and Mrs. Andrew Brooks, and LaToya Neloms.

His remains will lie in state on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 1-8pm at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 9am to10am, Rosary from 10am to 10:30am followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at St. James Major Catholic Church, 714 College Street, Prichard, AL, Father Nyginus L. Boboh SSJ, Pastor. Interment will follow in the Catholic Cemetery, Mobile, AL
