BURGESS, Ralph Edwin-
Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of his wife Dorothy (nee Smith) for 63 years. Loving father of Jill Fortney (late Steven) of Oakville, Joel Burgess of Chicago, Jane Johnson (Tom) of Burlington and Grampa to Lauren and Ryan Johnson. Predeceased by his sister Joyce Rutherford. Ralph was born in Vermont but later moved with his parents to Sudbury where he attended school and later took an apprenticeship at Inco in tool and die. He loved sports and played hockey and baseball and always enjoyed them. He had a diverse and varied career in sales and marketing in the heavy duty truck industry and at one point had his own plant in truck brakes and parts in Mississauga. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333 on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 4:30-7:30 where a Service of Remembrance will be held in the Chapel on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow.
