Obituary for Nick Michael Sokolowski

Suddenly at Joseph Brant Hospital on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Loving husband of Anna for 54 years. Devoted father of Karen, Kim (Gene Marisa) and Joanne. Cherished grandfather of Thomas, Andrew and Matthew Gike, Claire and Kate Marisa, and Gil and Declan Hunter.
Nick was a former 40+ year employee of CN Rail, avid curler, engineer, artist and music lover. Throughout his work career, his job took him to Toronto, Montreal and Winnipeg before retiring to Grassie, Ontario. He was a former member of the curling clubs in each city and played for the Grimsby Curling Club before moving to Burlington in 2015. Nick and Anna spent their retirement years enjoying yearly special vacations to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, South America and Central America and attending concerts, bluegrass festivals and the occasional hockey game.
A private cremation has taken place. The family would like to invite all their friends and family to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, July 9th from 3-7 p.m. It will be held at Karen’s home in Burlington, at 480 Delaney Court, where we hope to share some cherished memories, and lift a glass to remember this remarkable man.
