PALLADINO, Arthur,
Of Arlington. Passed peacefully on March 7, 2017, at the age of 95, surrounded by his loving children. Born in Revere on October 24, 1921 to the late Pasquale Palladino and Fortunata “Flora” (Copolla). Beloved husband to the late Mary A. (Amodeo). Loving father of Nancy Palmieri and her late husband Richard P. of VA, and Arthur Palladino, Jr. and his wife Robyn Marcow of Amherst. Adored ‘Grandpa’ of Matthew and Jessica Palmieri, Lenore Palladino and her husband Billy, Celeste Palladino and her husband John, and Simone Palladino and her husband Luckar. Great grandfather of Lucia, Marcelo, and Annalia. Dear brother of Nella Serino of Salem, MA, and the late Dorothy Dudley and Marie DiGiacomo. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Arthur served during WWII as a 2nd Lt. in the US Army Air Corps, and was stationed in England. His crew flew their first combat mission together on D-Day; they flew twenty additional missions before being shot down over enemy territory. Arthur was taken prisoner and spent nine months at a POW camp in Germany.
Returning from the war and to his new bride, Arthur worked in several fields before accepting a planning position in the jet engine department at the General Electric plant in Lynn, MA, from which he retired in 1986.
When his wife died the following year, Arthur began doing family research to keep her memory alive. This began his passion for genealogy, which continued until his death. Arthur eventually collected detailed information on over 8,100 family members extending back to the 17th Century. He leaves that legacy to future generations of the family he loved so deeply.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., ARLINGTON on Friday from 10am – 12pm. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
